My name is Colin Dunne. I am a freelance designer and summa cum laude University of California, Santa Barbara graduate. I cast a wide range of various experience in the visual arts. From digital and web design to tattooing and illustration: I love the act and process of creating- the ability to not only seek inspiration from anything and everything, but to make something of it.
I believe my first true experience with art wasn’t in a museum or in any classroom, it was with my Mother’s photography. Particularly, it was when I saw the tears of one of the people she had taken a photo of. This person was a family friend of ours. She was crying over family photos my Mom took photos for them, photos that included the family’s husband who succumbed to cancer soon after the shoot. The wife told my Mom that the photos were not only a preservation of who he really was, but a tool of reflection to see how their son would grow up to look so much like him.
Anyone can push a button to take a photo, pick up a pencil to draw, or put words on a page. It is the artist, designer, or creator that imbues this content with feeling. With the world flowing between our fingertips, artists have the ability to grasp. Whether it is done through art or more literal forms with UX and web design, I strive to make my work reflect my inspiration and my intent for the viewer.
